The Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care aims to provide learners with the essential knowledge, understanding, and skills needed for careers such as support workers, senior support workers, or care assistants in the health and social care sector. This program allows learners to showcase their skills through evidence from their work activities, aligning with national occupational standards. It prepares learners for roles in the sector or further studies.

This qualification at RQF Level 3 is equivalent to GCE AS/A Levels, representing practical knowledge, skills, and competencies.
The diploma consists of 6 mandatory units, totaling 60 credits, 600 hours of Total Qualification Time (TQT), and 120 Guided Learning Hours (GLH):

- Personal and Professional Development in Health and Social Care (10 credits)
- Effective Communication and Ethical Practice in Health and Social Care (10 credits)
- Health, Safety and Wellbeing in Health and Social Care Settings (10 credits)
- Person-centred Approaches in Health and Social Care Settings (10 credits)
- Effective Handling of Information in Health and Social Care Settings (10 credits)
The qualification is designed for 12 months of full-time study but is flexible to accommodate part-time and distance learning. It is delivered through various methods, including face-to-face lectures, tutorials, seminars, and online learning.
Assessment: All units are internally assessed and externally verified. The qualifications are criterion-referenced, based on achieving all specified learning outcomes.
Evidence: Learners must provide evidence to demonstrate they have met all learning outcomes and assessment criteria.
Judgement: Assessors will judge whether learners have successfully met the criteria and provide an audit trail of their decisions.
Upon successful completion, learners can progress to a wide range of undergraduate programs, including the Level 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
